Ganesha is the God of good fortune, the one whose blessings we seek before beginning any auspicious task. And so, of course, we must begin this collection of slokas with Him.
Mooshika vahana modaka hasta
Chamara karna vilambita sutra
Vamana rupa maheswara putra
Vigna vinayaka pada namaste
Meaning:
His vehicle is a mouse, he holds a modaka in his hand,
His ears are like hand held fans, he wears a long sacred thread,
He is the remover of all obstacles, we worship at his feet (prostrate ourselves at his feet).
